Omaha Queens to Face Austin Rise FC in High-Stakes TST Prep Scrimmage
The Omaha Queens are stepping into elite company this Friday as they take on Austin Rise FC—a women-owned, semi-professional powerhouse out of Austin, Texas—who are in their final stages of prep for The Soccer Tournament (TST), the million-dollar, winner-takes-all event that’s redefining the global small-sided game.
This isn’t just another scrimmage—it’s a rare opportunity to collide with herstory in the making.

RecPlex: 6500 Grand Avenue, West Des Moines, IA
---
While the Queens typically dominate the arena pitch, they’ll be making their first outdoor appearance to compete with a team that’s not only gearing up for a global stage but also shaping the future of women’s soccer in the U.S.
About Austin Rise FC:
Austin Rise FC is 100% women-owned and plays in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL). They were one of the first teams to sign an LOI for the new WPSL Pro—a Division III professional league launching in Fall 2026. Their mission? Bridging the gap between amateur and pro, and carving out a long-overdue path for women pursuing the highest level of play.
They’ve been sharpening their edge in Des Moines during pre-TST camp—mirroring the same training style as Newtown Pride FC, the men’s side who recently scrimmaged the Omaha Kings in a high-level matchup.
What Makes This TST Appearance So Monumental?
Austin Rise FC enters one of the most stacked brackets in the tournament alongside these powerhouse teams:
US Women – The defending 2024 TST Champions return with legends like Carli Lloyd, Ali Krieger, and Heather O’Reilly. This squad includes World Cup champions and Olympic Gold Medalists, ready to make history with a back-to-back title run.
Angel City 7s – Representing NWSL's Angel City FC, this team brings a star-studded lineup backed by investors like Mia Hamm, Abby Wambach, and Billie Jean King. With wins last year over Wrexham and Streetball FC Canada, they’re here to prove they belong in the spotlight.
Process FC – A team built on grit, passion, and purpose, Process Football Company formed Process FC as a platform for the overlooked—rising stars, pros, and untapped talent hungry for the spotlight. Their mantra says it all: We Are The Process.
Big Opportunity for Omaha’s Local Talent
This scrimmage isn’t just about competition—it’s exposure. With high-level coaches, scouts, and club owners in attendance, it’s a prime moment for Queens players to showcase their skill, tenacity, and tactical intelligence on a wider stage.
For Omaha, it’s a chance to show that elite women's talent exists here—and it's ready for the next level.
Bonus Match: Omaha Kings vs Newtown Pride – The Rematch
Also hitting the pitch that evening (following the Queens vs Rise match), the Omaha Kings will square off once again against Newtown Pride FC, the 2023 TST champions and 2024 Semi-Finalist. After a fierce scrimmage last weekend, the rematch is on—and the energy will be high.
The future of women’s soccer is unfolding. And while this may be Austin Rise’s road to TST, it’s an honor for the Omaha Queens to be part of the journey. These are the matchups that help shape a team’s future.
